How to Jailbreak iPhone iOS 6 And Above With Sn0wbreeze

Snowbreeze has just been updated to the latest version of sn0wbreeze 2.9.7. There’s a lot happening in the jailbreak world and it seems that we are inching closer towards an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 for devices on A5 and above processors.

But for now, an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 is still in the works. Now as you might know, snowbreeze is only for windows users, so Mac users can’t use this. The update enables snowbreeze to jailbreak tethered your iDevices running on pre-A5 processors.

Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7

So to help you jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running on iOS 6 or iOS 6.0.1,  we have created this guide tutorial to take you through the steps so that you can jailbreak your device easily, if you are not already familiar with the process that is.

Important: Okay, so to remind you guys once again, and this is really important, please keep this in mind when you jailbreaking your device that this is not an untethered jailbreak and is only for devices that are running the pre-A5 processors which basically means that you cannot jailbreak iPad 2, iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S or any of the devices running the A5 processor and above.

Step 1: So the first step is to obviously download the latest version of sn0wbreeze 2.9.7. You can download the latest version of sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 from the link given below.

Step 2: Sn0wbreeze comes in a zip archive file, so just unzip it and run executable from the desktop. Having it all on the desktop is just convenient.

Step 3: Now you need to have the correct firmware IPSW on your computer before you can proceed further, which in this case is either IPSW for iOS 6.0 or 6.0.1.  You can download the correct IPSW directly from sn0wbreeze, or you can download from the web.

Step 4:  So now that you have the correct firmware IPSW, just select the browse button on sn0wbreeze to look for the correct version of the IPSW that you have saved on your computer. It should verify that the correct version has been selected.

Step 5: Our purpose is to create a custom IPSW from the stock one, and that is what exactly sn0wbreeze lets us do, so select simple mode that then gives you the option to select “yes” on Hacktivation. Do that, and this will create your custom version of the IPSW firmware and save it on your computer.

Step 6: Now you just have to put your iDevice into DFU mode and select start to place it into PwnedDFU mode with iReb. The screen should go black at this point. This indicates that the device is in DFU mode.

Step 7: If you successfully entered PwnedDFU mode, then launch iTunes and it will throw up the recovery mode notice. Select your correct device from the list and while holding the shift key, click on restore. You now have to select the recently created custom IPSW file that you created just now with Snowbreeze. Click Ok when you have done so

Step 8: Now the process will start and it will look as if your device is restoring just like a normal restore from iTunes, but you will see an icon that looks like a snowflake on your screen.

Step 9: Almost there folks! So once it has finished restoring it should complete the setup process and when you take a look at your home screen you will see that now it has an icon for Cydia.

Step 10: So now the process is almost complete, but since this is a tethered jailbreak and not an untethered one, we have to do a reboot before we can use Cydia, so you have to place your device back into DFU mode and do a tethered reboot.

Step 11: Now look for the iBooty folder that should be located on your desktop and run the executable. iBooty will give you the option to select your current device and then to start. Once you have started the boot process, the iDevice will tether boot and you will be able to use Cydia once it’s finished and you go back to the home screen.

Step 12: That’s just about it folks! Now just check if everything works fine and if it does, then you have been successful in jailbreaking your iDevice running on iOS 6 or iOS 6.0.1.
